DriveAI Privacy Policy

DriveAI turns your drives into a personal map you uncover, with trip recaps, Trip Stories and Mystery Drives. Your drives are private to you. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

What we collect and why

Data	Why
Email address	To sign you in (a one-time code is emailed to you) and to contact you about your account.
Precise location while you drive	To record your drives (route, distance, time), reveal the map tiles you explored and detect when you arrive at a Mystery Drive destination. With automatic drive detection turned on, DriveAI uses location in the background to notice when a drive starts and ends; it only records while you drive. You can turn this off at any time in Profile or in iPhone Settings.
Drive details	Start and end place names (city level), distance, duration, estimated cost, business/personal label and your notes, to show your history, statistics and mileage log.
Vehicles and costs	Make, model, efficiency, expenses, odometer readings and an optional vehicle photo you choose, to calculate costs.
Explore progress	Explored tiles, XP, badges, challenges and cities visited, calculated from your drives.
Privacy zones	Places you choose (like home) that are hidden in Trip Stories.
Invites and wishlist	Your invite code, how many friends joined with it (never who), and the DriveAI+ features you said you'd want.

We do not collect contacts, health data, advertising identifiers or browsing history, and we do not use third-party analytics or advertising tools.

Services that process data for us

Supabase stores your account and drive data securely (database, sign-in, file storage). Access rules ensure each account can only read its own data.
Anthropic (Claude) writes drive recaps and answers Ask DriveAI questions, only if AI features are on. We send summaries only (distances, times, city names, totals), never your GPS trail, coordinates or addresses. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
Geoapify (OpenStreetMap data) finds Mystery Drive destinations. When you ask for a Mystery Drive, your current location is sent to find places nearby. It is not stored by DriveAI.
Apple Maps shows the street maps inside the app, and Apple or Google Maps give directions when you choose them.
Email delivery: our email provider sends your sign-in codes.

Sharing

Your drives are never public. A Trip Story is a picture made on your phone. It is only shared when you choose to share it, and it hides the start and end of the route and your privacy zones. We never sell or rent personal data.

Your choices and rights

Pause tracking or turn off automatic drive detection in Profile at any time.
Turn off AI features in Profile. Nothing is then sent to the AI service.
Data retention: choose how long detailed GPS points are kept (Profile → Data retention). Summaries of your drives stay until you delete them.
Delete any drive, all driving history, or your whole account (Profile → Delete account). Deleting your account permanently removes your data from our systems.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Server keys (AI, places) are kept on our servers, never inside the app. Each account can only access its own data.

Children

DriveAI is meant for drivers and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and, for important changes, let you know in the app.
